Coach Zeb is back with another drill— this time for getting accurate & powerful throws on-the-run! 🔥

How we fire across the diamond largely depends on where we’re fielding the ball— to maximize speed, if we reach a grounder at a low position, we’ll have to throw from a low arm slot. At a high position— such as a one-hop, or a ball that comes up-and-in— we throw from a high arm slot.

Zeb takes us through a fun game for the end of warm-ups that allows us to practice precise throws from each position while throwing on the run!

Coach Zeb presents the Top Hand drill…🔥

This tee exercise eliminates the bottom hand from the swing & simplifies the load, allowing hitters to focus on keeping that top hand above the barrel and finishing through the zone. This in turn generates backspin, and avoids ‘rolling over’ on the ball.

Coach Steve presents the No Stride Drill! 🌊🔥

In taking the front step out of the overall swing equation, players focus on generating their power from a strong base.

This can be performed on a tee, front toss or live BP, with the underlying point being that players have to hit against their front leg— i.e. avoid lunging at the ball.

From this drill, players may realize they can derive a much more forceful attack from their bottom half.
